Dear Praying Friends,
One of my favorite verses as a young person praying about God's will for my life was 1 Samuel 12:24:
"Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you."
That verse was true many years ago and becomes more significant with each passing year and season. The Lord has done many great things and continues to show Himself faithful and true in our family and our ministry.
We rejoice in God's blessing as we recently celebrated several memorable occasions. In April, Stephen graduated from Bible college with a Bachelor of Theology and Biblical studies. He is praying about his next "steps" and covets your prayers as He seeks God's direction for his future.
Shortly thereafter, we traveled to Louisiana where we enjoyed a beautiful graduation service held at Temple Baptist in Dequincy, LA, honoring Katlyn and her graduation from high school. We appreciate all of you who have reached out to both of them and made their graduations so special.
During this brief furlough, the Lord has allowed us to present our ministry in churches across seven states. These meetings have been a refreshing time as we have rekindled friendships from many years gone by. I am thankful that Stephen was able to join the girls and me, assisting with the driving, taking care of the special music, and preaching in some of our supporting churches. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve together as a family.
At the end of May, we travelled to Rochester, NY, where we attended the wedding of Francisco Mendez to Megan Salvione. Many of you remember Fran - the young man who has worked tirelessly in our ministry and has served our family faithfully on the mission field after Josh's passing. It was a tremendous blessing to see him begin this new chapter! We would appreciate your prayers for him and his sweet wife, Megan, as they raise their support and prepare to serve as missionaries in the Dominican Republic.
As we near the end of this trip, we will be celebrating another memorable moment: Kimberly's baby shower. Yes, I'll soon have a granddaughter! I'm looking forward to this new season!
We plan to return to the Dominican Republic on June 17th. I am excited to reconnect with a new group of deaf adults and their families who began attending our Sunday afternoon deaf class just before I left on this furlough. Summer is always full of ministry opportunities, and we look forward to taking our deaf to camp as well as continuing on in the ministries where we serve. Thank you for your faithful support, prayers, and love.
For Jesus' sake,
Joy Wesson and family
